Good Works
Central to the mission of the Fraternal Order of Moai Foundation are our good works for charities that, in turn, do good works for their causes. And, in addition to our national fundraising efforts, each of our FOM chapters chooses local charities that they hold fundraising efforts for in their local communities.
Easter Island Scholarship Program
The FOM has donated funds to the Easter Island Foundation Scholarship program since 2009, funding 89.5 scholarships as of 2024 to support college & graduate students of Rapa Nui descent, with priority going to students who intend to return to the island upon graduation to bring their skills to enhance the island. Our scholars are an impressive bunch who have brought much-needed skills to the island, including a former governor, engineers, a dentist & maritime studies, among many others.
Lanai Cat Santuary
The FOM has made an annual donation to the Lanai Cat Sanctuary in Hawai’i for several years, supporting their mission of giving Hawaii’s stray cats the best life possible, offering a safe home for life, as well as adopting out many cats to happy homes. The FOM sponsors a FOM “cathouse” annually, giving the cats shelter for their naptime
(which, as we know with cats, is much of the time!).
MAUI STRONG
With the devastating fires on Maui in 2023, the FOM quickly mobilized donations to benefit Maui recovery efforts, utilizing our reach to bring in more funds, with the FOM matching over $30,000 of donations made to us for this purpose. The total donated through the FOM Foundation to benefit Maui in these efforts was $82,302 to the Maui Strong Fund & the Maui Humane Society
OTHER CAUSES IMPORTANT TO US
The FOM Foundation regularly supports a variety of other causes centrally, as well as through the fundraising efforts of our local chapters. These causes include disaster relief for hurricanes & other natural disasters, local animal charities, Polynesian society & cultural efforts, disease, homelessness & hunger - among others. The FOM Foundation is happy to be able to provide this needed financial support.
